PROJECTS
March Toilet Block
Probus Construction have been tasked with constructing a new build toilet block in March, Cambridgeshire. This project is unique in the fact that the location lies in a conservation area, therefore the design and build needs to be sympathetic to the local heritage style buildings that surround it.
As part of the wider regeneration of March Town Centre, Probus Construction have been tasked with constructing a new build toilet block at the end of Grays Lane on the river bank. Due to the fact that the site is in a conservation area, the design is sympathetic to the local heritage style buildings. The work as a result includes large amounts of detail to ensure the final building is in keeping, areas such as the brickwork and stone arch lintels epitomise this.
As part of our works we have had to introduce new drainage (inc. connections into the mains sewers) and formed a new piled foundation as a result of soil conditions/proximity to the river. The brickwork is being completed in a traditional English bond with stone arch lintels and a band course as per the conservation officer’s stipulations. The roof structure is being formed with a traditional roof turret incorporated into the design. The internal spaces will provide a male, female and disabled wc with an adjoining plant room. They will be clean and bright spaces with anti-vandal fixtures & fittings to cope with regular use.
